Fox News hosts react to the Trump-Putin summit

During the press conference, Putin denied Russian Federation interfered in the USA presidential election and said it was "utter nonsense" to believe the Trump campaign colluded with the Kremlin in this regard. But apologies and clarifying statements just aren't Trump's style.

The news conference, televised on the nation's biggest broadcast and cable news networks, drew strong reaction from commentators after it was over. The American people need to know what has happened.

While American intelligence agencies have assessed that Putin himself signed off on a campaign to sow discord among the USA voting public and tilt the election in favor of President Trump, the Russian president denied his government was involved. I have President Putin, he just said it's not Russian Federation.

Abortion-rights activists dressed as heavily pregnant Donald Trumps demonstrated on the streets of Helsinki, just a stone's throw away from where the U.S. and Russian presidents met.

The two leaders were seated together in a room adorned by American and Russian flags at the Finnish Presidential Palace, separated by a small table.

Former CIA Director John O. Brennan tweeted that Trump's behavior exceeds the threshold of high crimes and misdemeanors.

Trump and Putin have held talks several times before.

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul emerged as one of the president's few defenders from his own party.

"Nothing bad is going to come out of" the Helsinki meeting, he said, "and maybe some good will come out".

He added: 'I will say this: I don't see any reason why it would be, but I really do want to see the server'.

In a joint press conference, Putin said that the leaders touched on issues including tensions on the Korean peninsula and the situation in Syria during their first summit. But that's not Trump's style.

Some US politicians had called for the summit to be cancelled after 12 Russian military intelligence agents were indicted last week, accused of hacking Mrs Clinton's election campaign. Trump initially supported it, but then reversed himself.

Fox Business Channel's Neil Cavuto said he'll give Trump the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was suffering from jet lag or other problems related to the time difference in Helsinki. He could denounce Russian Federation election meddling, while making clear his campaign took no part in it.
