At least 26 tornadoes have been reported across four states since Monday, as a period of severe weather now enters its fourth straight day. Friday will probably be the last day of the severe-weather outbreak.

A surface area of low pressure is located across part of eastern Kansas and will move northeast later this evening with a dry line positioned across far western OK and western Kansas. It will be refreshing to have the storm ingredients move away for what could be nearly a five day period.

Look for a warm Wednesday with afternoon highs near 80°! "Unfortunately there's also the potential for flash flooding, given that (the storms) will be very efficient rain producers".

"The main threats will be strong winds of 60 - 70 miles per hour, 1-2.5" size hail and some areas could see up to two inches of rain.

Some of these storms are possible of dropping large hail and damaging winds.

On Wednesday, a severe thunderstorm warning moved through northern Cook County and southern Lake County before it expired at 8 p.m Wednesday. Tornadoes were not observed until the afternoon but storms were already shown firing up from Kansas to Minnesota. Mostly cloudy, with a low about 63.

"That activity developed into a line so early" it limited storms' ability to produce tornadoes and large hail, said Mick McGuire, a meteorologist with the Wichita branch of the National Weather Service. That area is why there is a moderate risk for severe storms.
