Surprise! Razer Announces the All-New Razer Phone

The long-awaited moment has arrived: November 1, 2017, the company Razer, specializing in peripherals for gamers, has launched its first smartphone. The focus of the phone is on gaming as expected.

A quarter of the money raised will be used "to develop new verticals in the gaming and digital entertainment industry, including mobile devices", and another quarter to "to finance acquisitions that will continue the expansion of the company's ecosystem".

It's understated though, with just a contrasting black Razer logo on the back giving away its identity (a limited edition launch model will feature a venom green logo).

The battery of the phone is worth mentioning.

The smartphone comes with a 5.72-inch Quad HD Igzo LCD display from Sharp and runs Qualcomm's top-of-the-range Snapdragon 835 processor and a 4,000 mAh battery with quick charging. In addition to that, it also features a wide colour gamut (WCG) thereby making it capable to display vibrant colours. In fact it's the same rate as a high-end gaming PC or the iPad Pro. However, the highlight is the refresh rate.

That type of conservative play-calling could come back to haunt them if the Vikings end up winning this game by a point. After a solid start, he got in a funk through the middle of the game and couldn't complete a pass for a long stretch.

To power up this mammoth display, the company has offered the best in class hardware underneath its hood. Don't suffer in silence, there's enough battery power to keep your tunes streaming all day long. Nvidia took a serious shot at creating a gaming market for Tegra-powered devices, and even went so far as to help with game-specific optimizations on multiple titles. The Razer phone has 64GB of inbuilt memory, but also supports memory cards up to 2TB to this end.

Looking at those, it's clear the Razer Phone was made for specs-craving gamers because it doesn't appeal much elsewhere. The front sports an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture.

"Right now there's one phone design", Tom Moss Senior Vice President of Mobile at Razer told Gizmodo.

The dual front facing speakers also mean that you hands won't cover them while you're playing games in landscape mode. Razer Phone has dual front-facing speakers with each one containing its own amplifier. As a result, only bluetooth headphones can connect to the device. Buyers should note that the phone is not waterproof (due to its large speakers), does not feature wireless charging, and has a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter. Razer has built some genuinely good gaming laptops, but the smartphone market is harder to break into, particularly given how competitive the space is already.

Just for fun, let's start with the audio.
