Thursday Night Football Houston Texans at Cincinnati Bengals Start Time, Betting Odds

Deshaun Watson marked his first start for the Houston Texans with a 13-9 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in NFL. What we may not get is any kind of offense if Week 1 wasn't an anomaly for these teams.

The Houston Texans had a bit of a scare on Thursday night when starting cornerbacks Johnathan Joseph and Kevin Johnson left the game and didn't return after each player suffered an injury. Bill Belichick is notoriously tough on rookie quarterbacks, and will be when Watson and the Texans head to Foxboro next Sunday.

CHANGES NEEDED: Receiver A.J. Green insisted that the Bengals need to do a better job getting the ball to their playmakers in the crucial moments.

Geno Atkins sacked Houston quarterback Deshaun Watson twice to run his streak of consecutive games with at least a half sack to six.

Watson did suffer an ankle injury last week, but he was full-go in practice on Tuesday and should get the start. With Brian Cushing suspended, Benardrick McKinney tallied two sacks and Kareem Jackson forced a first-quarter fumble that Jadeveon Clowney ran back 49 yards (holding the ball with one hand like LeSean McCoy!). Coming off lopsided losses - each at home - to division opponents, the Bengals and Texans have a short week to solve their offensive woes when they square off in Cincinnati on Thursday night. For Houston to win, odds are Watson will need to make some plays.

Incomes up, poverty down
The median annual income for those living in the South was $51,174 in 2015, a 2.9 percent increase from 2014. What really matters for Americans is that incomes aren't only going up, they're also outpacing inflation.

It will be key for Houston to get the running game going to give him support but the potential is certainly there for the useful Lamar Miller (17-65 last week) to have a bigger impact now the offensive line has had a very rude and early wake-up call. "I have to put this one behind us", acknowledged Dalton.

He carried his momentum into this game by throwing 15-for-24 to get 125 yards total. J.J. Watt had a fairly quiet game statistically but flushed Andy Dalton out of the pocket on a late third-down. "I mean, this kid's going to get better and better and better the more he plays".

Dalton has completed 36-of-66 passes for 394 yards with no touchdowns and four interceptions this season. Thursday just happened to be Watson's 22nd birthday, too.

Watson's first start, coming on his 22nd birthday, was a straightforward one and his passing game will require work having nearly thrown a couple of early interceptions, but he provided the game with its only major highlight.
