Uber picks Expedia CEO as its next head

However, the search for his replacement as the head of the $70 billion company has been finally concluded.

Khosrowshahi, an Iranian-American businessman, has been Expedia's CEO since August 2005. Expedia is the world's largest online travel agency by bookings. He has also been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump as well and has condemned his travel ban saying it "represents the worst of his proclivity toward rash action versus thoughtfulness".

Khosrowshahi has been the CEO of Expedia since 2005. Khosrowshahi will be charged with turning around Uber's reputation and direction following a series of scandals under Travis Kalanick, the previous Uber CEO.

Khosrowski is expected to take on the daunting task of mending Uber's image, repairing frayed relations among investors, rebuilding employee morale and creating a profitable business after seven years of losses.

Before he headed Expedia (owner of Trivago, among many other online travel services), he worked as an investment banker. Immelt withdrew from the race when it reportedly became apparent to him that he did not have sufficient support from the board.

Uber, the leading cab-hailing company globally, has selected Dara Khosrowshahi as its new CEO. Khosrowshahi made a mere fraction of that, about $2.5 million, the following year.

The test future of Wallabies No 8 Sean McMahon remains unclear
Incidentally it was in the same city that the Wallabies last beat the All Blacks in New Zealand , in 2001 at the former Carisbrook Stadium.

- He is related to Canadian-Iranian billionaire Hassan Khosrowshahi, who migrated to Canada after Iranian revolution. Other family members work at Intel, Google Ventures and Allen & Company, according to the Partovis. Expedia works with auto rental and other transportation companies to get travelers between destinations, which is very much a macroscopic version of what Uber intends to do. Uber declined to comment on the matter. It is a service that even Uber has meant to do. Sources told the New York Times that members had been leaning toward Whitman, but changed their minds last minute.

We're still waiting for an official announcement, but the protocol is that Expedia first needs to announce Khosrowshahi's departure before his Uber appointment can be revealed.

Another tea leaf: Khosrowshahi has displayed some fascination with autonomous vehicles, a research priority of his predecessor, Kalanick.

Khosrowshahi will replace former CEO Travis Kalanick, who resigned from the position in June following a damming report on the company's culture problems under his leadership, including sexism and sexual harassment. Recode discovered that a top Uber executive had obtained the medical records of a woman who was raped by an Uber driver in India. "And hopefully we will all be alive to see the end of next year", he said in February during a call with investors.
