Spieth holds three shot lead at British Open

On No. 18, Spieth drained a long birdie putt from the back of the green to get to 11-under and Kuchar missed his 8-foot birdie putt to stay on 8-under, three shots back.

Things aren't as easy for Jason Day (+2), who's starring down the barrel of a double bogey on the opening hole after a poor tee-shot. The good news could be that the exception is last year's Masters, where he blew that five-shot lead with just nine holes to play. The trio finished a shot ahead of England's Paul Casey and South African Charl Schwartzel.

The 23-year-old calmly collected three birdies on the front nine and with Kuchar keeping pace, the pair kept the rest of the field at arm's length. Kuchar has yet to win a major championship. And I went with those today and it worked.

It is typical, though, of the level-headed and thoughtful Spieth that he considers that disastrous Sunday a memory that doesn't need to be blocked out.

US Open Champion Brooks Koepka (68) and 20-year-old Canadian-born Texan Austin Connolly (66) are six shots adrift of Spieth at five under and will play in the penultimate group of the final round. Earlier Saturday, Branden Grace made history by becoming the first player to ever shoot 62 at a major tournament.

No chance. When he's "on" like this, no one can catch him. I knew I was obviously playing really well, and making the turn in five-under was pretty special.

When Kuchar birdied No. 15 to tie him momentarily at 9-under, Spieth topped his birdie to get to 10-under.

To continue to play well, Spieth said, he needs to get more production out of his drives. The vile vegetation of its rough, fattened up with the blankets of rain that came Friday, lacked golf balls to devour, so true were so numerous unburdened shots. Koepka had two bogeys in Round 2 and his par-saving putts allowed him to stay afloat as one of the contenders. "He and I had a lot of birdies".

PM Modi arrives in Israel for 3-Day Visit
A progressive partnership in all these areas would shape the scope of my conversation with Prime Minister Netanyahu. Asked if Israel and India were facing the same threat of terrorism, Modi replied: "Terrorism is a global menace".

"I lined up way left with the whipping wind off the left, just to open the face and have [the ball] get anywhere around or over the green", he said.

"I thought Hartford (Travelers, where he won June 25 by holing a bunker shot against Daniel Berger in a playoff) was big", he said. RECORD DAY Branden Grace shot an 8-under 62 to set a record for the lowest score in a major championship.

Animated, always chuntering - to caddie Michael Greller and himself - and quick to acknowledge the outstretched hands of fans as he swept past, Spieth pushed his lead back to two over playing partner Kuchar with a second straight birdie at the eighth.

The low scoring continued as McIlroy holed from four feet on the first, chipped in for birdie on the fourth and two-putted the short fifth for another after driving the green, only to bogey the seventh and eighth.

Kuchar nearly holed his approach at the last as he tried to make one final push. I'm certainly not out of it.

"I feel like I've had a great career, but the next progression to win a major", he admitted after his round.

Some of the other top players in the world jumped up the leaderboard on moving day, none more so than World No.1 Dustin Johnson, who shot a 64 to move to -3. QUOTEWORTHY "I understand that leads can be squandered quickly, and I also understand how you can keep on rolling on one".
