Amazon Echo Will Soon Play Ads

The voice-assisted speakers market is small but growing. This feature is big as Amazon isn't alone in moving towards communication features with digital assistants.

Amazon is rumored to release a new, touchscreen-clad Echo home assistant speaker soon.

From my perspective, it feels as if this is what smart speakers have needed all along. However, if that was Apple's plans for their smart speaker, they'll be upset that Apple has beaten them to the punch. But that's not all. Amazon is packing an Intel Atom x5-Z8350 processor into the Echo Show.

Your Eurovision party could have an extra dusting of tech this year, thanks to a new Alexa skill that enables the Echo smart speaker to discuss the song contest with you. Limp said there was no technical limitation that would prevent Amazon from connecting a phone number to an Echo device that would allow them to be reached by people with telephones. I only own one Echo, an Echo Dot, but she told me that if I had multiple Echo units, the process would be the same.

Windows 10's Home Hub has the potential of being an important Amazon Echo Show competitor considering the details and internal concepts that recently leaked.

But the Show got even further. A feature called Drop In enables users to quickly contact users of other Amazon Echo devices by sending them text messages or making audio calls. In fact, according to the survey, homeowners don't really want to see a web browser in the Amazon Echo Show or any other similar devices with a touchscreen display. Microsoft is planning on adding support for devices from Philips, Hue, Google's Nest, Wink, Insteon and Samsung's SmartThings. The latter allows connecting external devices (eg. speakers).

Klitschko wants rematch after Joshua loss
The Ukrainian continued in the sixth, setting up his opponent with the jab before a huge right cross sent Joshua down. It was anybody's fight when Joshua landed a right uppercut early in the 11th round that spun Klitschko's head around.

But analysts with Morgan Stanley say the reasoning behind the so-called Echo Show is simple: It will make voice-activated shopping a lot easier.

Quite a bit, actually. Without a stable network connection the VoIP service will not work. Does not support connecting to ad-hoc (or peer-to-peer) Wi-Fi networks. As such, all Echo devices can constantly receive new updates and features, so there's a good chance Amazon will continue to push new features and ways to use the built-in screen in the future. Modality is key. Device makers must consider voice to be a critical interface, but one that will not completely replace touch. The best part? It's all hands-free.

VoiceLabs' CEO Adam Marchick says this ain't a problem, adding that by sticking to advertisements in streaming audio and flash briefings, its "100 percent in compliance with Amazon's policies". You can watch your favorite YouTube clips on the Echo Show, hook up your home security cameras, scroll through photos, watch the weather forecast so you know whether to bring an umbrella or a jacket when you leave the house.

Will you be buying the Echo Look? There it will cost $229.99USD.

The Echo Show is available for pre-order now and will be shipping out to the USA on June 28.

"Amazon now has a huge first-mover advantage", said Werner Goertz, an analyst at Gartner, the technology research firm.
