Spurs overcome Leonard injury, Harden to beat Rockets in OT

The San Antonio Spurs won Game 5 via overtime on Tuesday night, 110-107, to take a 3-2 lead over the Houston Rockets in their tightly-contested Western Conference semifinals.

Game 6 is Thursday in Houston and the victor of the series will take on the Golden State Warriors in the West finals. The Spurs' MVP candidate was hurt when he stepped on James Harden's foot about midway through the third quarter.

With the way the series has gone and the unknown severity of Leonard's injury, there could very well be a Game 7.

By the fifth game in a series there typically aren't as many adjustments as there were earlier in the round.

Popovich kept Mills on the bench and started rookie Dejounte Murray for games three and four but went with the Australian Boomers' gun in game five and the decision paid dividends. He nailed opportune threes and scissored through Houston's defense for layups - none more important than a contorted effort that, with thirty seconds left on the clock in the fourth quarter, tied the game. We knew it was going to be a tough one. All-star Kawhi Leonard did not play in the overtime period. At one point in the second half, Harden went 15 minutes without scoring, which is an eternity for someone who is averaging 30.3 points per game in the playoffs. Harden had 12 assists after managing just five in the last game and added five rebounds. "He did a great job guarding Harden without fouling him, without pressuring him and making him go around, drawing an offensive foul which was huge for us".

Ducks, Penguins advance to National Hockey League conference finals
In Game 7 , the Ducks are going to have to find a way to beat Talbot or risk being beat by goaltending once again. After an early exit from the first round of the 2016 playoffs, they advanced to the second round this year.

The Spurs' Game 5 overtime victory over the Rockets is the type of game where you often do your analysis based on the outcome.

The Rockets only used seven players in game five after losing Nene to a thigh injury. Mike D'Antoni has always been known for shortening rotations in the playoffs, but if the four-out lineups keep on tanking, it probably makes more sense to put the season in the hands of an unknown than to keep relying on a known weakness.

"I don't know how he can call anybody dirty", former Washington Huskies standout Thomas said of the rugged Green. Beverley, who finished with 10 points and six assists, wept after the game as he spoke about what Morris meant to him. "I have no clue". The Rockets now trail 3-2 " We played well enough to win. If Kawhi actually is limited in Game 6, San Antonio's shooting from the outside will need to improve, especially when wide open. As the game dragged on, the Spurs defense seemed to get better at cutting off his angles, and the Rockets' full-throttle offense found itself sputtering as a result. Patty Mills received the ball at the top of the key and looked to pass the ball in to Pau Gasol who had his back to Mills.

D'Antoni is infamous for tightening up the lineup come playoffs and couldn't bring himself to let Sam Dekker or Montrezl Harrell check in. I wouldn't be surprised if the Spurs closed out the series here, but I expect the Rockets' role players to step up and support Harden as they force a Game 7 with a win and cover in this one.

PRESSURE IS ON: Both teams.
