Larsson leads Oilers past Ducks 5-3 in wild series opener

Bieksa couldn't play in Game 2 because of a lower-body injury suffered in Game 1. The Ducks lost the first two games of a series at home twice in the previous three postseasons, eventually losing those series to Nashville and Los Angeles.

"I feel like people make too big of a deal of it", Draisaitl said Thursday afternoon.

"We're learning lessons as we go", said coach Todd McLellan.

Notes: Forward Iiro Pakarinen and defenceman Eric Gryba were the only players among the Oilers' 10 scratches that played in the first round. … Ducks D Sami Vatanen (upper body) did not go through pre-game warmups or play despite coach Randy Carlyle previously saying he would be "available".

"We obviously have to be way better".

While the Ducks did find the net in Game 1 scoring 3 goals, their struggle to score in Game 2 means someone other than their captain Ryan Getzlaf will have to score. It's not unreasonable to watch that clip from Game 3 and wonder if he crossed some sort of line.

"We can't really stress over what happened last game or what happened in Game 2", said Oilers winger Patrick Maroon.

"The task doesn't get any easier going home", Talbot said.

Edmonton tied the game at 1 when Letestu scoring on a five-on-three power play at 6:22 of the middle period. "We're taking a lot of shots, but he's a good goalie, so we've got to make sure to push him back in the net and get in front of him". Jakob Silfverberg cut the deficit in half with 4:16 left in the second, unleashing a blast of a shot that Talbot would have struggled to stop even if Patrick Eaves was not expertly blocking his line of sight.

While the Oilers managed to take an impressive 2-0 series lead, their performance on Friday was far from spectacular-Connor McDavid excepted, of course, as the Ducks had no answer for his speed.

Rockets' Patrick Beverley tears up talking about late grandfather
The Interstate 10 rivals will meet again for Game 4 at the Toyota Center late Sunday night at 8pm (Monday 8 am in Manila). Prior to Game 2 , Pau Gasol hadn't started a game since being injured in a freak pre-game incident in mid-January.

Rogers Place had little to cheer until the Oilers scored in the final minute of the first period after giving up three to the Ducks. I'm going to continue backing the Oilers in this series.

But we're seeing a different Rinne in this series: He has already allowed double his first-round total through Games 1 and 2 of the second round, for a save percentage of.880. I think we're playing better this series than we did against Calgary.

Leon Draisaitl added an empty-net goal for the Oilers, who don't appear to be feeling an ounce of intimidation in their first playoff appearance since 2006.

During the regular season, Draisaitl was the best player on the Oilers against the Ducks.

"Let's go meet Cam", Gretzky said.

That's Ducks defenceman Josh Manson on being down 0-2 in the series.

Game 3: Capitals at Penguins, 7:30 p.m. ET (Penguins lead series 2-0) - Capitals coach Barry Trotz yanked goalie Braden Holtby in Game 2's blowout loss after the reigning Vezina Trophy victor surrendered his sixth goal of the series (he's faced just 35 shots). Drake Caggiula is questionable for the Oilers after crashing into the boards on Friday night.

Letestu scored his second power-play goal with 13:37 to play before Larsson put the Oilers up 3-1. "We are still in a really good situation, still up 2-1".

Still, I can't see Anaheim falling down 3-0 in this series so I have to take the road underdogs in this one. While the Flames rocketed to the top of the league with a 37.5 power play percentage, the Ducks dropped to the bottom with an atrocious 61.9 penalty kill percentage.
