Rondo Out for Game 5

Rondo Out for Game 5

When Brad Stevens chose to insert Gerald Green into the starting lineup, he made his biggest commitment to playing small ball yet. But bad habits die hard, and the Bulls will be replaying the final quarter of their 108-97 loss Wednesday night at TD Garden for a while. Bradley and the Celtics fought the Bulls into the ground, establishing their defensive prowess in the fourth quarter to shove the Bulls to the brink. With size disadvantages at multiple important positions, the Celtics attacked the rim rather than settling for jumpers.

Al Horford couldn't believe his luck. The third ended with the Bulls ahead 81-79, after a last-second three-pointer by Jimmy Butler. But many of those fans spent the year largely unimpressed with their big prize. While on the Celtics' bench, Rondo stretched his right leg just when Crowder was passing on their bench, making it look like Crowder would have been tripped if Rondo stretched his leg right before Crowder passed in front of him.

From the Bulls' perspective, they expected the great defense from Bradley. Mirotic is a legitimate threat from three point range, but he forces a lot of shots and is miserably inconsistent. "He was in the weight room (Monday) getting a good session for the first time, so he's really just getting this whole process started". And my job for our team is to go out there and defend, try not to foul and make the player work for every shot, make him work on both ends of the floor.

Boston was able to even the series with the Bulls on Sunday thanks to a 104-95 win at Chicago.

"The slightest fall on the floor might further damage it", Rondo said, per King, with the point guard adding: "I think I'm Wolverine, but it hasn't actually healed".

Boston was +14 with Olynyk in the game and +12 with Smart, and they were two huge factors in the win.

The small ball battle will be huge in the rest of this series.

Predators rested, ready to face Blues in surprising semi
MONTREAL - Mika Zibanejad scored the victor at 14:22 of the first overtime period to send NY over Montreal at the Bell Centre. Hinostroza spent about half the season in Rockford and was recalled just ahead of the National Hockey League playoffs.

Can the Bulls still find a way to win this series? He also got into it with a couple of Bulls players.

Chicago Bulls guard Isaiah Canaan (0) sticks out his tongue as he taunts Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas (4) during the second quarter of a first-round NBA playoff basketball game in Boston, Wednesday, April 26, 2017.

Maybe that's because by now the 5-foot-9 All-Star is more than accustomed to people questioning his ability. The sequence was Game 5 of this series in a nutshell: an ugly tug-of-war in which Thomas and the Celtics seemed to want it more in the fourth quarter.

Thomas' response also made his two sons, seated next to him on the podium, cackle with laughter.

Boston going small has brought down a whirlwind of criticism about the Bulls guard depth and there is good reason for that. Will Isaiah Thomas overcome the adversity?

While the Celtics aren't dealing with a thumb injury, they have other things going on.
