NCAA Tournament: Xavier vs

At the end of his mini rant, Few shifted the focus to his players with this zinger: "It's not about me and my monkeys and my dogs and my cats". They believed in our staff. Gonzaga beat South Dakota State, Northwestern, Virginia, and then Xavier on Saturday, March 25.

Guaranteed: Either Greg Gard or Mike White, Frank Martin or Scott Drew will make his first Final Four this year. Sean O'Mara has gone from a guy who couldn't get off the bench to an XU NCAA tournament hero. Also, expect to see at least 25 from Jackson who should have more space thanks to the great play of Mason recently.

"Now that we've delivered on it, I mean, it's just a total, total feeling of elation and happiness for these guys", Few said. "It makes your heart warm, 365 degrees Celsius. maybe it's Fahrenheit". And, they are here and are now the lowest seeded team in the Sweet 16.

All told, the 'Zags hot 50 percent of their 3s (12-of-24) and 55 percent of their shots on offense.

A small ray of hope might have presented itself when Karnowski picked up a quick third foul, but it didn't matter as Williams and Nigel Williams-Goss combined to push Gonzaga's lead to over 20 points with under 10 minutes to go. Xavier has been scoring 1.21 points per possession in the tournament, and the team is making 63 percent of their two-point shots.

Despite sporting many talented rosters under Few in the past, Gonzaga had always come up short in March and never previously had made it to the final weekend. They wouldn't have to shoot like they did in 2011 against VCU to lose this Elite Eight game, but they'd have to play well below how they should.

Saint Ignatius of Loyola has been waiting for this moment as two of the 28 Jesuit universities in the United States are represented in the Elite Eight.

The Cinderella run ends for Xavier. Xavier is definitely a good team (they weren't ranked so highly in the preseason for no reason), but Gonzaga's defense is legitimately one of the best (if not THE best) in the nation.

SEC rivals Florida, South Carolina battle in East final
The Baylor bench, which had been outstanding in the first two games in Tulsa, finished the game a combined 1-17 from the field. Continued Gard, "I don't try to overstimulate this time of year in terms of what we're going into or what's at stake".

Kansas face an OR team that has shown few weaknesses this season and despite losing probably their best player, Chris Boucher, tore his ACL earlier this season, but Dillion Brooks has kept this team glued together and the Ducks are a Final Four looking team.

"Definitely not", Mathews said. A program that's thrived in large part due to developing players over their careers and by recruiting internationally turned this year into more of a melting pot for domestic re-settlers. Gonzaga's talent level simply looked overwhelming. But, when has their height not had a substantial advantage downlow where they just know they will be able to grab offensive board after offensive board and just feed off second-chance points?

There's a stigma that comes with no Final Fours to speak of.

Xavier is coming off a 73-71 win over Arizona, which I think could spell a similar style game tonight with Gonzaga.

"They were just locked in", said Xavier's Trevon Bluiett, who had 10 points. That kind of shooting sent Gonzaga to the locker room up 49-39 over the Musketeers.

The second half followed the same script as the first, with the Zags continuing to pummel Xavier with their inside-out attack.

Now Few finally has the Final Four berth on his resume he'd been missing for so long.
