ICE arrests immigrant after she speaks at press conference

The boldness instilled in illegal immigrants by the Obama administration is proving to be their undoing.

This contradicts President Donald Trump's own directives, which showed his "soft spot" for the young undocumented immigrants known as Dreamers.

- Daniela Vargas, a 22-year-old undocumented immigrant who grew up in MS, is in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody with no bond and will not get a hearing before an immigration judge, her lawyer said this afternoon.

CBS affiliate WJTV reports that she discussed recent events involving her family.

Though agents didn't arrest Vargas that day, it happened hardly two weeks later.

"ICE's assertion that her detention is "routine" is absurd and seems anything but," Representative Bennie Thompson (D- Mississippi), the ranking Democrat on the House Committee on Homeland Security, said in a statement on Thursday.

Daniela Vargas spoke at a press conference in Jackson, Miss., before she was detained by ICE. This means that ICE can and will pursue immediate deportation for Vargas.

Detaining someone with a pending DACA application has been "very unusual", Peterson said. And she just recently reapplied. Her latest two-year DACA protection had expired, but her renewal application is pending. She came out of hiding to speak at the conference. She has no unpaid tickets.

That morning, her father and brother had been arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in their driveway before they could make their way to work.

Following her speech, US law enforcement vehicles pulled over the vehicle she was in and detained her. "To ICE, anybody is a target, not only the people they're supposed to be looking for".

Bulls Game Notes For Thursday vs. Golden State
The Warriors will have a bit of an obstacle to overcome of their own, as Kevin Durant won't be suiting up for the game. They're still adjusting to life with Durant, and now, with Durant's injury, that all takes a step back.

Peterson also said Vargas was aware she could face arrest at the press conference since her DACA status was no longer in effect. She was detained on the spot, her lawyer said. And she expects it to be approved unless Vargas is deported.

The timing is interesting because Trump had been expected to sign a revised executive order on Wednesday regarding restrictions on immigration from certain countries after a previous ban ran into trouble in federal courts.

Some Democrats spoke out about the case.

Another DREAMer, Daniel Ramirez Medina, was arrested by immigration agents last month.

According to anonymous calls to the Idaho Mountain Express last week and this week, people reported either that someone was detained by immigration officials or that the officials called them or visited their doorstep. But don't just round up everybody and say all immigrants are criminals. After that, they must reapply to continue benefiting from the program. And what we know they said is, 'You know who we are, you know why we're here'.

"I've had one individual yesterday". And some of the cases, having DACA and they're gang members and they're drug dealers, too.

"Everyone that is here illegally is subject to removal", Spicer said.

Even then, unless ICE officers move quickly to take the person named in the warrant into federal custody, the accused may be released. "The lives and physical safety of many thousands of Californians -citizens and immigrants, documented and undocumented - depend upon knowing this information". She had a lot of ambition and wanted to live in America. "We're going to take care of everybody".

"I don't think anybody around her realized the risk that was involved", said Angela Stuesse (STEE-see), a family friend and anthropology professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
