Championship Weekend Preview: Playoff what ifs?

Yes that's right, the almighty titans of Ohio State and MI are looking up at Wisconsin.

Washington moved up to No. 4 in the College Football Playoff rankings on Tuesday, bolstering its chances of playing for a national championship. Fantasy sports are not as big in college football, meaning there's more focus on teams and games and not as much focus on individual players and their stats. And, lo and behold, an upset, though highly unlikely, would mean the SEC could possibly be shut out of the playoffs. If Clemson or Washington lose in their conference championship games this weekend, the victor of this game has an excellent chance of taking a spot in the College Football Playoff. The Wolverines beat both the Badgers and Nittany Lions.

If the committee makes the former decision, it will raise outcries that a superior team was left out of the playoff due to a technicality.

When looking at the wins by the Wolverines, they've taken care of the teams they should pummel.

"We're really excited about being here", Franklin said. Ten different linemen have sacks with defensive ends Garrett Sickels and Evan Schwan leading the way with six apiece for a speedy unit that's been mostly unheralded all season. 2nd they would have to wait until Sunday to see if they can Make it or not.

"The D-line definitely makes it easier for the guys on the backend", Reid said. "We all like to be put in challenging situations", Shelton said. Peterson's reputation for gadget plays and his bowl history certainly provides more mystique than the meat-and-potatoes personality of, say, Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst.

Either the Nittany Lions or the Badgers winning and reaching the College Football Playoff would be monumental for each program, no doubt.

Thanksgiving, Black Friday sales up 9 percent
The average spending per person over Thanksgiving weekend totalled $289.19, down slightly from $299.60* a year ago . It found that about 3 million more people than a year ago were looking for deals over the Thanksgiving weekend.

The Big Ten has been the best conference in college football this season, as along with one loss OSU, Michigan, Penn State and Wisconsin have all had great seasons each with a record of 10-2. But here's the issue I have, Penn State's Defense has given up 22.8 points a game. The Nittany Lions not only beat the Buckeyes, but walloped Iowa, as well.

"It's going to be a great challenge", Penn State coach James Franklin said at a press conference. "You know right now, we would play, and it wouldn't matter who won".

And as far as the Badgers are concerned, they have some unfinished business to tend to. Neither of these teams was projected to be playing for the Big Ten Championship at the beginning season.

And even though the Badgers went 1-2 against those teams, beating the Spartans by 24, losing to MI by seven and to Ohio State in overtime, Wisconsin knocked off every other challenge presented to them, including beating No.5 LSU at Lambeau Field, No.7 Nebraska in overtime and winning at Northwestern for the first time in 17 years. Wisconsin's defense is right on par with that unit.

So sure, maybe the victor of Saturday's game misses out on the playoffs, but in the eyes of both teams, that doesn't mean the season was a waste. "We don't know what's going to happen".

Winning a Big Ten title and getting the trip to Pasadena?

"I knew he was going to be a special player probably previous year during our summer camps", McSorley said during the Big Ten championship game players teleconference on Monday.
