Bowyer convinced Southgate will do well for England

The new England manager has revealed one of the footballers who has claimed he was sexually abused as a young player was a teammate.

Asked by ITV News Sports Editor Steve Scott about his reaction to the story that has engulfed football, Southgate said: "I think that the bravery of the players that have come forward are exceptional".

Critics have questioned whether Southgate can be ruthless enough at the top level, but former England captain Terry Butcher believes he proved his mettle by dropping Wayne Rooney against Slovenia last month.

Born in Watford in September 1970 and raised in Crawley, south of London, Southgate got his first exposure to football's capacity for cruelty when he was released by Southampton aged 14.

He has not lost any of the four games he has overseen during his spell as England's interim manager. When I played, particularly in 1996, there were captains throughout the team.

"He is not going to take any more of my life away from me", he said.

"I don't think laying down the law is necessary for this group of players".

"He knows the squad, he's been around the FA for a long time now, he knows the young players coming through".

"Marcus would benefit from tournament football, but I'm conscious of his age and work-load over the season. Wayne has played an important part and can do so in the future, but we have to develop others".

Southgate's first competitive match as manager will be the global fixture against Germany in Dortmund on March 22, 2017, followed by the World Cup qualifier against Lithuania at Wembley Stadium on March 26, 2017.

House to Pass Revamped 21st Century Cures Bill
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, this week said his caucus is still working through its concerns. He said he believes the bill would provide $20 million to help pay for treatment and recovery services in MA .

"No, there's no break clause", Southgate said.

"There has to be respect and treat them as adults and there has to be trust between coach and players".

"First of all we need a clear style of play, a clear understanding of how we want to play".

Glenn also gave the FA's reasoning behind not seemingly giving themselves an exit strategy should Southgate's appointment turn sour - especially after they shelled out a reported £1million compensation fee to Allardyce after just one game in the job.

Former professional players have been speaking publicly over the last two weeks about the ordeals they went through as youngsters at the hands of coaches.

However, despite the backlash, Southgate has said that Rooney remains his captain though he is keen on developing more "leaders" in the team.

Southgate played a key role in creating the "England DNA" manifesto aimed at making a winning national team.

Allardyce got the job, but was sacked after 67 days - and just one match - in charge when his integrity was damaged by unguarded comments to undercover reporters.

Southgate, who insisted there was no "break clause" in his contract following the 2018 World Cup, offered measured support for Rooney, who was photographed after a late-night drinking session at the team's hotel.
