Wal-Mart kicks off Cyber Monday on Friday

Duquesne University marketing professor Dr. Audrey Guskey said the best deals won't be on Black Friday.

WalletHub, a credit score and credit report website, surveyed 8,000 deals from 35 of the biggest USA retailers' advertisements for the day after Thanksgiving and found the stores offering the biggest discounts for product categories such as jewelry and appliances.

Many people plan their Thanksgiving gatherings around their Black Friday shopping schedules, which means finishing dinners early to head out to the malls. The list is heavy on televisions, computers, housewares and toys.

Macy's will open at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving, and most locations will remain open until 2 a.m.

While Cyber Monday was initially started as an online alternative to the in store melee that Black Friday tends to be, nowadays you can generally get all the best deals online on both days. Cyber Monday is purely transactional, where features like prices, free shipping, and online return policies move into focus.

The online world will be offering thousands of digital deals, hoping your clicks will translate into their dollars. And, she's right. People who are into Black Friday are REALLY into it. This year the company is one again expected to turn its back on Black Friday.

The survey found that 21 percent of weekend shoppers plan to shop on Thanksgiving Day, almost the same as last year's 22 percent. Stores open at 6 a.m. on Friday.

Not wanting to be outdone by Argos and Amazon, Tesco has also chose to enter the Black Friday fray early in 2016, kicking off its price-slashing sales bonanza from Monday (21 November).

In-store deals will be available from 5am on Friday (November 25) in the majority of Tesco Extra stores.

Walmart Spokesman, Ravi Jariwala, says the company began researching ways to make holiday shopping a more convenient experience and found moving their Cyber Monday special would be ideal for millions of online shoppers. Topping the charts for best deals by category are Video Games, with 31% of products offering additional savings if you wait until Black Friday to purchase.
